Governor's Spinning New Child Care CD

MIRS, July 30, 2004

As a part of her Great Start program, Gov. Jennifer Granholm today announced the Family Independence Agency's distribution of a new CD-ROM to child care providers.

The disc contains information on how to best prepare young children for their later education, including articles about early brain development, appropriate nutrition, how to communicate with a fussy baby and proper discipline.

Granholm said when launching her Great Start Program in 2003 that a young child's experiences affect the way they learn, think and behave forever. Obviously, appropriate guidance in day care is important.

“As parents, child care providers and concerned citizens, it is our job to ensure that Michigan's youngest and most vulnerable residents are well-protected and cared for in a safe and loving environment," said Granholm in the disc's introduction.
