Jackie's
Review:
Learning can be fun! Part of a new series, this 640-page,
Kindergarten-focused activity book is one of the most complete and organized
compilations that I've reviewed to date. Teachers, daycare providers and home educators will be floored by
the sheer number of activities contained here, along with the ease of use.
Even parents who have a child at home for the summer will be amazed at
what they'll find in this huge book of fun. Hours of fun and
learning without the negative stimulation of some video games and
television programming. There are enough hands-on activities here to
last your child a very long time - even age-appropriate
recipes for your little chef! Activities are
broken down by topic and theme. You'll find
that a rainy day never has to be a dreary day!
Time-saving activities for any day of the week abound and nothing is
missing - find everything inside: art activities, book recommendations,
circle time activities, dramatic play, fine and gross motor development
activities, finger plays, songs and poems, holiday-specific activities,
morning greetings, music and movement, outdoor play, rest or nap time
ideas, sand and water play, science and nature lessons, snacks and
cooking, social development enrichment and development, and last but not
least, making transitions. I strongly recommend this book to anyone
who works with children ages 4-6.

Norma's comments about this series:
The Giant Encyclopedia of Preschool Activities is a complete book of
activities to help teach and enhance a preschooler's skills. I found the
book easy to follow and the activities very age appropriate. I feel the
book is well written and the instructions are clear and easy to follow.
This book would be a good resource for a new teacher to help plan her
daily activities and dress her classroom for those activities. This book
may also be helpful for a parent (who is working with her first
preschooler) who is interested in preparing a child for preschool.
