Description: "Why did that happen?", "How does that work?", "What

Cathy's
Review: I liked the overviews at the beginning of the book. How to set
up your center, how to experiment with the children and I really liked the
10 commandments for teaching science to young children. The book gave a
list of materials to collect for your science area and experiments. They
all were ordinary everyday items. The book was set up into different
aspects of science. In the "Air" chapter, different science activities
were given. You were told of all the materials you would need. There was
also a list of words to discuss, which would encourage language
development throughout the activity. What I liked most was at the end of
each chapter there was a list of books that related to the chapter
covered. This helps tie in a literacy aspect to the experiment. All of the
experiments seemed easy and fun to do. I tried one in my classroom that
had to do with air called the “which is faster game”. You just drop items
(weighing different amounts) at the same time and see which will land
faster. The kids loved it and wanted to do it over and over again.
