Jeremy M.
Hughes, Ph.D., Chief Academic Officer/Deputy Superintendent, Michigan
Department of Education, October 15, 2004
The Michigan Department of Education announced, late yesterday, that Lindy
Buch has been appointed the Director of MDE's new office, the Office of
Early Childhood Education and Family Services. You can reach Lindy at
buchl@michigan.gov.
The announcement follows:
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lindy Buch as the Director
of the new Office of Early Childhood Education and Family Services. Dr.
Buch has extensive training and experience in the field and has served as
a Manager of Early Childhood Education when this function was in the
former Office of School Excellence.
The new office of Early Childhood Education and Family Services was
created as part of the reorganization of the Department of Education in
order to:
1. Unify in one
office the various initiatives in early childhood education existing in
the Department.
2. Give sharper
focus to the importance of early childhood education in later school
success.
3. Create a
unified voice for the department in interacting with other agencies,
within and outside state government, working to improve early childhood
education in Michigan.
I hope you will join me in congratulating Dr. Buch and wishing her success
in this new position!
